There were eight new severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) cases and two new deaths from the disease between 10:00 a.m. May 25 and 10:00 a.m. May 26 on the Chinese mainland, the Ministry of Health reported Monday.
The cumulative SARS cases rose to 5,316 while the number of SARS patients discharged from hospitals and the death toll reached 2,829 and 317 respectively, the ministry said in a daily report.
Five of the new cases and one of the new death are in Beijing.
